I've Just Paid - Why Are My Sites Still Frozen

Heads-up: Sites not unfreezing straight away after payment is completely normal and expected. It usually takes up to 15 minutes. There is nothing wrong, nothing for you to do, and nothing we can do to speed it up. Grab a coffee — your sites will be back shortly.

📘 Quick vocab so nothing’s confusing:

  • Frozen / suspended sites — when a site’s subscription or one-time payment has expired, our system suspends the site (it shows a holding page or goes offline) until payment is confirmed.
  • OK state — the status you see next to your domain in the PBN LTD dashboard. It means the site is live, active and fully served.
  • Payment confirmation — the signal from your payment provider (PayPal, Fastspring or Crypto) that the payment went through successfully and the funds have been received.
  • DNS check — our system verifying that your domain’s nameservers are still pointing to us correctly before it brings the site back online.

💳 How the Payment → Unfreeze Process Works

When your subscription renews or your one-time payment expires, our system suspends your sites until it receives confirmation that a new payment has gone through. This is automatic — the moment your plan lapses, sites are queued to be frozen, and the moment a payment is confirmed, they’re queued to come back.

Here’s what actually happens when you pay:

  1. You complete your payment through whichever method you’ve set up — PayPal subscription, PayPal one-time, Fastspring (card), Fastspring one-time, or Crypto.
  2. Your payment provider confirms the payment to our system. This is the “handshake” — the provider (PayPal, Fastspring or the Crypto processor) sends us a signal saying “yes, the payment was received and cleared.”
  3. Our system updates your subscription or expiry date. For subscriptions, it extends the billing cycle. For one-time payments, it sets a new expiry date one month from today.
  4. Our system runs its checks on each of your sites — verifying DNS, nameservers, site configuration and other requirements before bringing each one back online.
  5. Sites return to OK state one by one as each passes its checks. Depending on how many sites you have, this can take a little time — but they all come back.

That’s it. Once the payment confirmation lands with us, everything else is automatic. You don’t need to do anything, log a request, or get in touch with us.

⏱️ The Timeline — What Happens and When

Here’s a rough guide to what to expect after you hit pay:

Time after paymentWhat’s happening
0–2 minutesPayment provider processes the transaction and sends confirmation to our system.
2–5 minutesOur system receives confirmation and updates your subscription or one-time payment expiry date.
5–15 minutesOur system runs checks on your sites and begins bringing them back online one by one.
Up to 15 minutesAll your sites should be back in OK state. Larger accounts with many sites may be at the higher end of this range.

💡 Tip: You don’t need to sit and refresh the dashboard. The sites will come back on their own. If you check back in 15–20 minutes, everything should be green.

🔍 What Checks Does Our System Run?

Before bringing each site back online, our system runs a series of automated checks to make sure everything is in order. These include:

  • DNS / Nameserver check — Is the domain still pointing to our nameservers? If a domain’s DNS has been moved away from us, it won’t be brought back online on our infrastructure.
  • Subscription / payment status — Has the payment confirmation been received and logged correctly against your account?
  • Site configuration check — Is the site’s configuration on our end still intact and ready to serve?
  • Account status check — Is the account (And domains) in good standing with no flags that would prevent reactivation?

Each site goes through these checks individually, which is why they come back one by one rather than all at once. Larger accounts will naturally take a little longer than smaller ones as there are more sites to process.

🚨 My Sites Are Still Frozen After 15 Minutes

In the vast majority of cases, everything resolves automatically within 15 minutes. But if you’re past that window and sites are still frozen, here’s what to check first:

  • Did the payment actually go through? Log in to your PayPal, Fastspring or Crypto wallet and check that the payment completed successfully. A pending or failed payment won’t trigger the unfreeze process.
  • Check your Subscriptions tab in the PBN LTD dashboard. Head to your name (top-right) → Subscriptions. If you can see an updated expiry date or a new billing cycle, the payment was received. If the expiry date still shows as expired, the payment confirmation hasn’t reached us yet.
  • Crypto payments take longer. Crypto transactions need a certain number of network confirmations before they’re considered final. This can take longer than PayPal or card payments — especially on congested networks. Give it up to 30–60 minutes before worrying.
  • Check your domain’s DNS. If you’ve recently changed your domain’s nameservers or DNS settings, our system’s checks may be failing because the domain is no longer pointing to us. Check that your nameservers are still set to what we gave you when you added the domain.

🚨 We cannot manually speed up the unfreeze process. Our system works automatically once payment confirmation is received. If your payment has confirmed and it’s been more than 30 minutes with no movement, get in touch via the chat widget on our website and we’ll take a look.

❓ FAQs

Can you unfreeze my sites manually right now?

No — the unfreeze process is fully automated and triggered by payment confirmation. There’s no manual override we can apply. The system will process everything and your sites will come back on their own within 15 minutes of a successful payment.

I paid but my Subscriptions tab still shows as expired — why?

This usually means the payment confirmation hasn’t reached our system yet. Payment providers (especially PayPal) can sometimes take a few minutes to send the confirmation signal. Give it 5–10 minutes and refresh the Subscriptions tab. If it still shows expired after 15–20 minutes, double-check that the payment completed on your provider’s side.

Why do my sites come back one by one instead of all at once?

Each site goes through its own set of checks before being reactivated. The system processes them sequentially, which is why you’ll see them flip to OK state one at a time rather than all simultaneously. This is normal — they’ll all come back.

I paid with Crypto and it’s been 30 minutes. Is something wrong?

Crypto payments require network confirmations before they’re finalised — this process can take longer than card or PayPal payments, particularly during periods of high network congestion. Give it up to 60 minutes. If your transaction shows as confirmed in your wallet but the sites are still frozen after an hour, get in touch via the chat widget on our website.

Some of my sites came back but not all of them — what’s happening?

Each site goes through checks individually. If most sites are back but one or two are still frozen after 20+ minutes, it’s likely those specific sites have failed a check — most commonly a DNS/nameserver issue. Check that the affected domain’s nameservers are still pointing to us, and if everything looks correct, get in touch via the chat widget on our website.

Do I need to do anything after paying to trigger the unfreeze?

No. The whole process is automatic from the moment payment is confirmed. You don’t need to click anything, refresh anything, or get in touch with us. Just wait.

What if I accidentally paid twice?

Get in touch via the chat widget on our website as soon as possible and we’ll sort it out. Don’t panic — it happens occasionally and we can resolve it.

✅ Quick Summary

  • Paying doesn’t instantly unfreeze your sites — there’s an automated process in between.
  • Your payment provider confirms the payment to our system, which then updates your subscription or one-time expiry date.
  • Our system then runs checks on each site (DNS, nameservers, account status) before bringing them back online.
  • Sites return to OK state one by one — this is normal.
  • The whole process usually takes up to 15 minutes. Crypto payments may take a little longer.
  • There is nothing you need to do and nothing we can do to speed it up.
  • If sites are still frozen after 30 minutes and your payment confirmed, check your DNS/nameservers first — then get in touch via the chat widget if everything looks correct.

Hang tight — your sites will be back before you know it! 🎉
