Page Builder Sandwich is one of our own plugins and is already installed on the WordPress sites we build for you. It is not counted towards your file or disk allowance. A site still on an older version is brought up to the new one by the checked automatic updates, one site at a time, and keeps its existing translations and language links. It needs PHP 8.2 or newer: a site on an older PHP is moved to PHP 8.3 first (why and how).

Page Builder Sandwich has a free edition and a paid Pro edition (Personal, Business and Agency plans). Foundation
- Pages saved as standard WordPress blocks — Everything you build is stored as normal blocks. SEO plugins read it, other tools can edit it, and if the plugin is ever switched off the page still shows its content. No shortcodes left behind.
- Sandwich Studio: a full-screen visual editor — A drag-and-drop canvas that shows the real page with your real theme, plus a layers panel, undo history and keyboard shortcuts. It edits the same blocks, so you can switch to the normal WordPress editor at any time.
- Works inside the normal block editor too — All our blocks and style controls also work in the standard WordPress editor, for people who prefer it.
- Automatic upgrade of old Page Builder Sandwich pages — Pages built with the old plugin (pbs-row/pbs-col HTML, old buttons, old table columns) are converted to the new blocks on first open, with a backup kept.
- Latest WordPress and PHP, tested every release — Built for WordPress 6.8+ (tested up to the latest release) and PHP 8.2–8.5, with an automated test matrix run on every release (including the WordPress nightly build) so a new WordPress version never breaks customer sites.
- Security by design — Every save and action is checked for the right user permission and a valid request token; all input is cleaned and all output escaped. Fixes every problem that got the old plugin closed.
- Translated into 58 languages, right-to-left ready — The whole interface ships in all 58 of our languages, with full Arabic/Hebrew right-to-left layout, like our other plugins.
Speed and SEO
- Loads only what each page uses — CSS and JavaScript for a block load only on pages that actually contain that block. A blog post pays nothing for a slider used on the home page.
- One small generated stylesheet per page — Styles are compiled into a cached file per page instead of inline style soup, and cleared automatically when you edit.
- No jQuery, modern lightweight scripts — Interactive blocks (tabs, accordions, sliders) use WordPress’s own Interactivity API: tiny, fast, and they work before the page finishes loading.
- Layout-shift guard — Images, videos, embeds and sliders reserve their space before loading, fonts swap without jumping, and the editor warns you when something will cause layout shift (CLS).
- Automatic main-image priority — The biggest image at the top of a page is detected and loaded first; everything below the fold is lazy-loaded.
- Google Fonts hosted on your own site — Fonts are downloaded to your site instead of loading from Google: faster and GDPR-friendly.
- Clean, light HTML — Minimal wrapper elements, so pages stay small and easy for search engines and AI crawlers to read.
- Works with Yoast, Rank Math, SEOPress and All in One SEO — Their content analysis reads your page text correctly, including text built from dynamic data.
- Compatible with caching plugins — Tested with LiteSpeed Cache, WP Rocket, W3 Total Cache and Zinn Cache, and clears their cache when you publish.
Layout and design system
- Flexbox and CSS Grid containers — Sections and containers with full flex and grid controls, including a visual grid editor: drag to set columns and rows.
- Three built-in breakpoints — Separate settings for desktop, tablet and mobile, previewed live.
- Global colours and fonts, shared with your theme — Site-wide colours and typography that read from and write to the theme’s settings (theme.json), so the builder and theme always match.
- Copy and paste styles between elements and sites — Copy an element’s style, or a whole section, and paste it into another page or another website.
