Tranzly And AI Agents – Connect Claude, Cursor Or VS Code (MCP)

Tranzly makes your WordPress site an MCP server: an AI app such as Claude, Cursor or VS Code can read and change Tranzly’s content and settings through it, as you.

💡 Only what you may do
Every ability checks the WordPress permission it needs for the exact page or post, so an agent can never do more than the user it signs in as. Visitors and subscribers are always refused. Revoke the application password, or switch Allow AI agents (MCP) off, to stop it at once.

Before you start

  1. Your site needs WordPress 6.9 or newer.
  2. In Tranzly’s settings, Allow AI agents (MCP) is on by default. Switching it off removes the abilities and the endpoint.
  3. In WordPress open Users → Profile → Application Passwords, add one named after your AI app and copy it (it is shown once).
  4. Your connection address is https://your-site/wp-json/tranzly/v1/mcp. The same abilities are also available over the REST API.

Claude Desktop and Cursor

In Claude Desktop open Settings → Developer → Edit Config; in Cursor edit .cursor/mcp.json. Add this, with your own address, username and application password:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "tranzly": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "@automattic/mcp-wordpress-remote@latest"
      ],
      "env": {
        "WP_API_URL": "https://your-site/wp-json/tranzly/v1/mcp",
        "WP_API_USERNAME": "your-username",
        "WP_API_PASSWORD": "your-application-password"
      }
    }
  }
}

VS Code

VS Code reads .vscode/mcp.json, which uses servers instead of mcpServers:

{
  "servers": {
    "tranzly": {
      "type": "stdio",
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "@automattic/mcp-wordpress-remote@latest"
      ],
      "env": {
        "WP_API_URL": "https://your-site/wp-json/tranzly/v1/mcp",
        "WP_API_USERNAME": "your-username",
        "WP_API_PASSWORD": "your-application-password"
      }
    }
  }
}

Claude Code

claude mcp add tranzly \
  -e WP_API_URL=https://your-site/wp-json/tranzly/v1/mcp \
  -e WP_API_USERNAME=your-username \
  -e WP_API_PASSWORD=your-application-password \
  -- npx -y @automattic/mcp-wordpress-remote@latest

Other apps, and ChatGPT

Any app that runs MCP servers can use the same command and settings; an app that connects to remote servers with a header can call the connection address directly with your username and application password. On the server itself: wp mcp-adapter serve --server=tranzly --user=<login>.

ChatGPT cannot connect yet: it signs in to MCP servers only by OAuth, and a WordPress application password is not OAuth.
