Tranzly – What The Plugin Does, Free And Pro

Tranzly: A free translation plugin with unlimited languages: one real page per language, with translated web addresses, hreflang and sitemaps.

💡 Already on your sites
Tranzly is one of our own plugins and is already installed on the WordPress sites we build for you. It is not counted towards your file or disk allowance. A site still on an older version is brought up to the new one by the checked automatic updates, one site at a time, and keeps its existing translations and language links. It needs PHP 8.2 or newer: a site on an older PHP is moved to PHP 8.3 first (why and how).

Tranzly’s own website, a live demo you can try, honest comparisons with the alternatives and the free download: tranzly.io · Live demo · Compare with WPML, Weglot and more · Free download. The download link always points at the current free build (WordPress.org once the plugin is listed there).

Free and Pro

Tranzly has a free edition and a paid Pro edition (Personal, Business and Agency plans). Pro includes everything in the free edition; the Pro features are in Tranzly Pro features. Prices are on Tranzly’s own website and inside the plugin. As a hosting customer you get a discount on your first Pro payment: Pro plugin discount.

Foundation

  • One post per language, linked together — Each translation is a real WordPress post linked to the original. This is the most compatible approach with themes, page builders and SEO plugins.
  • Keeps your old Tranzly translations — Existing Tranzly language links (old cn_* data) are imported automatically on upgrade.
  • Translate in the background — Big jobs run in a background queue, so you can close the browser and they carry on. The old version stopped when you closed the tab.
  • Latest WordPress and PHP, tested every release — Same test matrix as Page Builder Sandwich.
  • Security by design — Permission checks, request tokens, escaping and encrypted API keys. Fixes every problem found in the old version.
  • Interface in 58 languages, right-to-left ready — Like our other plugins.
  • Unlimited languages — No cap on the number of languages, in free or Pro.

Translation engines

  • DeepL (the current integration, kept) — Keep using DeepL with your own key. Supports both Free and Pro DeepL accounts, HTML-aware translation, formality and glossaries.
  • AI models with your own key — Translate with OpenAI (ChatGPT), Claude, Google Gemini, Mistral, DeepSeek or OpenRouter, and choose the model.
  • Cost estimate before you start — Shows how many words and roughly what it will cost on your own account before translating.

What gets translated

  • Posts, pages and custom post types — Title, content, excerpt, featured image alt text.
  • Blocks translated safely — Text inside blocks and block settings is translated without breaking the layout or code.
  • Categories, tags and custom taxonomies — Names, descriptions and slugs.
  • Menus — Separate menu per language, or automatic translation of the menu.
  • Page Builder Sandwich pages — Deep integration: every PBS block and template translates perfectly.
  • Media — Image alt text, captions and titles.
  • Widgets and site title/tagline — Everything visible on the page gets a translation.

Workflow

  • Translate one post in one click — From the editor: pick languages, press translate.
  • Side-by-side translation editor — Original and translation next to each other, sentence by sentence, with machine vs human-checked status.
  • Translation status dashboard — See what is translated, missing or out of date, per language, with one-click fixes.

SEO and URLs

  • Language in the URL: /de/, /fr/ — Proper subfolder URLs per language.
  • Translated slugs — /about becomes /de/ueber-uns, including category and product URL bases.
  • hreflang tags, done right — Correct hreflang links on every page, including x-default. The old version advertised this but never output them.
  • Translated sitemaps — Each language in your sitemap, working with Yoast, Rank Math, SEOPress, AIOSEO and WordPress’s own sitemap.
  • Correct language and canonical tags — html lang attribute, og:locale, canonical URLs and right-to-left direction per language.
  • Suggest the visitor’s language — A polite banner offering the visitor’s own language. It never forces a redirect, so it’s safe for search engines.

Language switcher

  • Switcher block for the block editor — Dropdown, list, flags, language names, native names, codes, pills; many designs.
  • Switcher element for Page Builder Sandwich — Native element with full styling.
  • Menu item, widget and shortcode — Add the switcher to any classic theme menu or sidebar.
  • Floating switcher — A corner button that works on any theme with zero setup.
  • Accessible switcher — Keyboard and screen-reader friendly; flags are optional because flags aren’t languages.

Developers

  • PHP API and template functions — Get a post’s translations, current language, switch language in code.
  • Add your own translation engine — A documented interface for adding any provider.
  • Hooks, REST API and WP-CLI — e.g. `wp tranzly translate –lang=de –post-type=page`.

Updates on your sites

On the WordPress sites we host, Tranzly updates itself and every update is checked on your own pages first; if anything changes it is rolled back at once and our developers are told. How that works: Automatic updates.

AI agents (MCP)

A site running Tranzly can let an AI agent such as Claude, Cursor or VS Code work with it through 74 abilities, each limited to what the signed-in WordPress user may do: Tranzly and AI agents.
